About

Monica at the library

Hello!

This is where I tell you more about me, right?!

What do you want to know?

Let’s see…

I could tell you all sorts of stuffy, formal information about myself, but that isn’t what I’d share with you if we were sitting together in person (my favorite way to be sharing stories).

If we were sitting together and you asked me to tell you about myself, I may start with some quick information about my family (if you weren’t already familiar), but I’d likely soon find myself sharing the story about how I was once a woman lost in my sin who one day realized the saving grace of Jesus Christ and found her life forever changed.

I’d likely share some Scripture passages that have taught me much, and would surely tell you what the Lord’s been teaching me right now. But, even more so, I hope I’d be asking you about your life, about your own experience with God and His Word, and I’d be eager to hear what He’s been teaching you as well!

And that’s how I want this page to work. I want this to be an ongoing conversation of grace.

I want this to not only be an outpouring of what I’m experiencing in my everyday life but also an opportunity to hear what you’re experiencing in yours. I want each of us to be reminded of God’s truth in various ways, to provide encouragement in truth, to share realities of grace, and to point to the resurrection hope and healing in Jesus Christ.

Now, for the more “formal” answer to your question “about me”:

I’m married, and my husband and I have three adult daughters, two sons-in-law, and two grandbabies (*insert squeals of delight*). We live in the Kansas City metro area (though my heart still longs for my first home in Minnesota). We enjoy serving in our local church, especially in areas of adult discipleship, small groups, and guest services. I’ve served in women’s ministry for more than 20 years. I’ve led a women’s ministry team at our local campus for the past 13 years. My favorite spaces to serve have included leading/teaching women’s Bible studies, creating adult discipleship curriculums and reflection experiences, and engaging in more intimate one-on-one discipleship and mentoring.

I hold a BA in Biblical Studies from Ozark Christian College and an MA in Bible and Theology from Lincoln Christian University.

When I’m not reading more than a few books at a time, I like to sip coffee on my back deck (alone or with a friend), get my fingers dirty in the garden, and explore nature trails with my family.
